Gravitational Constant
The Gravitational Constant is a simulation setting that affects the strength of the force of gravity for all objects in the simulation.
Setting Details[edit | edit source]
Location[edit | edit source]
The Gravitational Constant setting is located under Gravity in Sim menu on the bottom bar. It can also be found in the full Sim Settings Menu.
Units[edit | edit source]
Gravitational Constant can be viewed and edited using the following units:
- Newtons times Meters per Kilograms Squared (N(m/kg)2) is expressed in SI units
- Actual Gravitational Constant (G) = 6.6740831×10-11 N(m/kg)2
Simulation Effects[edit | edit source]
Gravity[edit | edit source]
The force of gravity between two objects in a simulation depends on the masses of the objects, M1 and M2, the distance between the objects, d, and the gravitational constant, G, by the following equation:
Increasing the Gravitational Constant will increase this force, causing objects in the simulation to affect each others' motion more strongly.
