Diagram showing orbital elements

The Inclination, i, represents the angle between the object's orbit and a reference plane. In Universe Sandbox, the reference plane for Inclination is the x-y plane of the Simulation Grid. Source: Wikimedia Commons

The Inclination of an object's orbit is an angle representing how tilted the orbit is relative to the Simulation Grid.

Inclination is one of six orbital elements that describe an object's orbit.

Property Details[ | ]

Location[ | ]

The Inclination property is located in the Orbital Elements section of the Motion tab of an object's properties panel, if that object has an Orbital Parent.

Units[ | ]

Inclination is an angle, and can be viewed or edited using the following units:

  • Radians (rad)
  • Degrees (°) = (180/π) rad

Inclination is only defined in the range 0-180°, or 0-π rad.
