Surface View is a feature that automatically adjusts the visible rotation and lighting of an object so the user to clearly see its surface. This can be particularly helpful when experimenting with surface simulation.
The toggle to enable the Surface View feature is located in the View menu in the bottom bar. Once enabled, Surface View can be activated by zooming in on a selected object, and deactivated by zooming out.
Once activated, the camera will rotate with the object, allowing a stable view of the object's surface even if the object is rotating. The user can still rotate the object to see different parts of the object's surface. The Lighting of the simulation will also automatically switch to Surface Illumination to increase the visibility of the surface, and the Background will fade to a single color, with other objects in the simulation visible as they move by.
